Description: The foot is distal portion of the leg, upon which an individual stands and walks. The human foot consists of 26 bones, connected by tough bands of ligaments. The foot bones form two perpendicular arches that normally meet the ground only at the heel and ball of the foot, condition of the human foot in which the entire sole rests on the ground when the person is standing.
